Dave Dodge
Plein Air Landscapes |
|
David Dodge paints landscapes, primarily en plein air, and is a continual student of nature and traditional landscape art. His love of the outdoors and the landscape began while growing up in the Connecticut River Valley of New Hampshire, where the farmland looks to Mount Ascutney. He now lives in the Monadnock region and finds New Hampshire's rugged and varied landscape a constant inspiration.
For Dodge, the urge to paint is somewhat mystical, hard to describe. "When I see something interesting, I feel need to explore with paint. Thoreau said "each experience reduces itself to a mood in the mind" and if I can get some of that into a painting, it's been a good day."
He is the President of Monadnock Art/Friends of the Dublin Art Colony, Dublin, NH; and a member of Left Bank Artists Group and Sharon Arts Center, Peterborough, NH; The New Hampshire Art Association; and the Sedona Art Center, Sedona Arizona.
